Privacy Statement

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and and other applicable privacy laws and regulations.

 

What is personal information?

“Personal information” means any information about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. In general terms, this includes information that personally identifies you either directly (e.g. your name) or indirectly.

What we collect

 

  • Contact information: name, address, email, phone, and date of birth.  

  • Additional information: court and /or police documents, if applicable.   

Under certain circumstances, we may need to collect sensitive information about you. This might include any information about your racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual preferences, criminal record, or health information.

If we collect your sensitive information, we will take appropriate measures to protect the security of that information, and will only disclose it with your consent, if it is necessary to prevent a threat to safety, life or health, or as otherwise required or authorised by law.

You do not have to provide us with your personal information. However, if you choose not to provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to provide you with our services or otherwise interact with you.

 

How we use and disclose it  


To provide mediation and related services, manage administration and payments, comply with legal obligations, engage service providers (for example, interpreters and venues), and improve services.  
 

We will only use or disclose information for the primary purpose it was collected, a related purpose you would expect, with your consent, or as permitted/required by law.

Security, retention and cross‑border transfers  


We take reasonable physical, technical and procedural steps to protect information and retain it only as long as necessary or required by law.  

 

If disclosed overseas (for example, cloud providers), we will take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection or inform you and obtain consent where required.

 

Notifiable Data Breaches  


We have procedures for data breaches and will notify affected individuals and the OAIC where required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
